The installation of the centenary footbridge was funded by Box Parish Council and the CPRE (Campaign for
the Protection of Rural England) to allow greater access to the footpaths in the locality. Both organisations celebrate 100 years this year.
There is significant ecological importance in this tributary of the Bybrook, which runs along the bottom of
the recreation ground to the Lovar Garden.
The Lovar garden, opened in 1997, was the initiative of Ronnie Walker, chairman of BoxNATS (archaeological and natural history society). With its broad range of wildlife habitats including a pond, a bog area, woodland and banks, it is a beautiful relaxing space for people and wildlife.
The bridge was installed in February, but everyone is welcome to come down to the official
opening on Box Revels Day, Bank holiday Monday, 25th May, at 2pm.
