Richard Aisbitt from the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland will lead a guided walk exploring riverside plant species and what they reveal about the river’s health and ecosystem.

Is it an algae bloom caused by upstream pollution? Which plants are poisonous or edible? What role do they play in the life cycles of fish and other animals?

We will walk along (and in!) the river, so please bring your wellies. The walk will last approximately 90 minutes and will start at the White Hart Pub in Ford at 6pm. Children are very welcome, but please do not bring dogs, as the route crosses private land and ecologically sensitive areas. By the end of the tour, we hope to have identified at least 20 different plant species.

Please note that, due to the nature of the terrain, this walk is unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Parking is available at the White Hart Pub, where food, drinks, and toilet facilities are also available.

Space will be limited. Please contact ford@northwraxall-pc.gov.uk to book your place on the walk.
