Wingfield Parish Council are delighted to host a Nature Trail within Wingfield Village and its surrounding area. This family friendly event is to be held on Saturday and Sunday 20th and 21st June, between 10.00am and 4.00pm each day.
The event starts in the Wingfield Church car park.
The event will include a trail around the village using an event map and aided by arrows sited around the area to encourage children to explore and learn to map read. There will be locations at which noticeboards will be positioned, providing interesting facts and things to look out for or activities. The trail will take around 1 to 2 hours depending on how many activities you engage with!
Please note that due to the nature of the trail, persons with some disabilities may find rough terrain and stiles difficult to navigate. Also note that there are NO public toilets available within the village. This is an unaccompanied event where Parents will take responsibility of children during the event. Parents can borrow Hi-Viz vests at the start location to aid safety whilst walking around the village, returning them at the end of the trail.
This is a fun event enabling learning for children of all ages through exploration and engagement in activities. These include:
- Learning about nature through information boards and associated activities
- Learning new skills through trial and error
- Making creative, nature-based items using recycled* materials
- Opportunity for longer term engagement through take-away nature-based activity
Products will be provided to enable all participants to undertake the activities. Recycled equipment is sourced from the Wiltshire Scrap Store and can be recycled after use.
